Gina Carano vs. Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos in April?

Cyborg1_medium

The best thing that EliteXC did was build towards a fight between Gina Carano and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos. Bloodyelbow has the goods about the possibility of a fight between these two at Strikeforce's April 11th event.

"We're in dialogue with Gina," Coker said. "We did invite her -- through her manager -- to fight Cyborg on April 11. Cyborg is ready to go, and I think at some point today there will be further dialogue with Gina."

...

"My gut feeling right now is we have a shot at it, and it's 50-50," Coker said. "She'd have to sign, start training camp and get going, but I think there's a 50-50 shot we can make it happen. This first fight card, we're promoting it as the greatest card in the history of Strikeforce. I think we've had some good fights in our history, so we have to deliver."

The odds are most likely less than .500, but as a fan I am crossing my fingers that this fight will happen. Strikeforce has yet to sign Carano and she is rumored to be in negotiations with Zuffa. If Gina does end up signing with the Zuffa it will be interesting if people accuse her of dodging Cyborg.

I hope this fight finally happens. I’m not really a fan of womens MMA, but I definitely would watch this match. I would also definitely be surprised if Santos were to lose to Carano.

...some call me "el mexicutioner"...

Womens MMA is fine.

I like it, and I like Carano. If anyone fights, then I’ll watch. I could care less if the fighters were attractive. Someone like Gina is great for the sport, look at the superbowl exposure.
