Quebec re-examines MMA rules, UFC 97 may be in doubt
The fallout from the near riot at an MMA event last weekend in Quebec may put UFC 97 in doubt.
Due to the ugly incident, the Quebec Athletic Commission is considering revising their rules. MMAWeekly is reporting that the commission may remove elbow strikes, knees, and have stricter rules regarding referee stoppages.
If the QAC follows through with the rule changes it would be a drastic departure from the 'unified rules' currently used in most U.S. states. The UFC subscribes to all local laws governing combat sports when they put on an event. No one is sure if the UFC would follow through with UFC 97 if the rules were altered in such a way. Consider this, Anderson Silva is notorious for his damaging elbow and knee strikes. Would he like to fight where those blows are not allowed?

Fools...
I think the Athletic Commission (who some how didn’t notice the GSP/Serra event) just wants their pocket lined with a bribe to clear this one.
