UFC 91, 92, 93 and 94 Pay Per View numbers
The UFC blockbuster season is drawing to a close. It began with UFC 91 and wrapped up this Super Bowl weekend. The PPV numbers for all four events show that there is a great deal of vitality in the UFC right now.
UFC 91 is expected to reach 1.05 million buys, UFC 92 is at a million buys, UFC 93 did the best of any U.K. PPV event and rumors around UFC 94 indicate the show will do 1.3 million buys. For all four events the PPV numbers would combine to 3.5 million buys for a take of 157 million dollars.
If UFC 94 does as well as is anticipated it will beat the UFC record for PPV buys set in 2006 by Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. Considering the drastic economic downturn that occurred this fall, the UFC's recent PPV shows that the organization is extremely resilient. However, it should be pointed out that UFC 91, 92 and 94 were all major events laden with talent (UFC 92 essentially had three main events). The PPV buys for UC 96 and 97 will be more indicative of how the rest of 2009 will unfold for the UFC.
[Update: While UFC 94 was initially reported to be trending towards 1.3 million PPV buys, Dave Meltzer now reports that it will actually be just over 1 million PPV buys]
