Velasquez needs to be tested

Cain_velasquez_2_medium

WKR's latest piece is up on MMAConvert.com. This time we delve into the need for Cain Velasquez to be tested against a top opponent in the UFC heavyweight division.

It's now time for Velasquez to be tested against a top fighter within the UFC heavyweight division. While the division suffered a drain of talent in recent years, there are still quality opponents available. Perhaps the winner, or even the loser, of the Carwin-Gonzaga bout could be his next opponent. Another possibility is Mark Coleman. Coleman's last fight was at light heavyweight and considering how fast Coleman ran out of gas the UFC should put the hall-of-famer back at his natural weight class above 205.

What about Heath Herring? I think that would be a solid test for Velasquez, especially since he won’t have the size advantage over Herring that Lesnar had.

Herring or Kongo(I realize Kongo is fighting at UFC 97 against Hardonk) but still…

cant believe I forgot about Heath. I would still like to see the winner of Carwin-Gonzaga fight Cain and the loser fight Heath

Either would kill heath…especially Carwin…it would be just like Lesnar/Herring except Carwin would finish him IMO.

Velasquez vs. Gonzaga

and Carwin vs. Heath. I do think Carwin might finish Heath, where Brock didn’t, and that would provide the potential for some good dramatic buildup to a match of Shane/Brock.

Velasquez vs. Gonzaga makes all kinds of sense. It would test Cain’s striking further, and also his BJJ defense.

Makes too much sense to pass up.

There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
