Station Casinos going bankrupt?
In June of 2008 Dana White hinted at an announcement that would change the face of the UFC and MMA. It turned out that White was full of hot air as the announcement dealt with a new toy merchandising agreement and Lorenzo Fertitta's taking on full time duties at the UFC.
At first it seemed that Fertitta's involvement was a positive sign that the UFC's growth and bright future. In fact it was Lorenzo getting out of the Station Casino business while the getting was good,
Station Casinos. (Privately owned, about 14,000 employees). Las Vegas has already been creamed by a biblical real-estate bust, and now it may face the loss of its home-grown gambling joints, too. Station - which runs 15 casinos off the strip that cater to locals - recently failed to make a key interest payment, which is often one of the last steps before a Chapter 11 filing. For once, the house seems likely to lose.
MMAPayout did a fantastic job reporting about the incoming trouble for the Fertitta's Station Casinos. But Yahoo's report just shows how much trouble this enterprise is in. Remember Vegas and Nevada are grown zero for the Housing Bubble burst and the economic downturn.
