New Feature: Historical Combat
I am a history buff. Actually to be honest I am a history nerd. This character trait is oftentimes a vice as I bore friends and colleagues with long solliquies, otherwise known as rants, regarding some ancient city, government or battle.
But that love of history is something I am going to put to good use here at WKR.
I must admit my roundhouse is Western history and I do a disservice to myself by not knowing more about the Eastern civilizations. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why I am fascinated with mixed-martial arts, since its conception is derived from many eastern martial arts traditions.
I have decided to utilize said dorkiness and introduce a new segment for WKR called Historical Combat. In it, I will pick one of the many martial traditions and post certain segments of the tradition's historical conception, application, affects on modernity and its presence within MMA. Don't worry this won't be some 8:45am professorial lecture, instead it will be the unique stories of Judo, Muy Thai, Jiu-Jitsu and others.
