Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz Hangover
Some thought while I recover from my Strikeforce hangover...
- Nick Diaz looked fantastic, well part of that was just how poor Frank Shamrock looked. Could it be that the weight cut hurt Frank? Whatever it was Diaz looked like the real fighter while Shamrock just looked old.
- Don't worry Shamrock fans, you can still hold out for a drug test.
- Did Ranallo plagiarize Stu Scott of ESPN? I could've sworn I heard Ranallo say "as cool as the other side of the pillow."
- Melendez easily beats Rodrigo Damm. Would of been nice to see Josh Thomson instead, oh well.
- Scott Smith pulls off the comeback and ruins my perfect night of predictions. Instantly fight of the night and goes into the list of fight of the year candidates.
- Hannibal Lector reference, everybody take five shots!
- When Radach was landing the big punches on Smith I kept getting this feeling that perhaps we would see a repeat of Pete Sell.
- Smith and Radach allowed Gus Johnson to finally get excited. I knew I missed something during the NCAA tournament.
- Radach with the pink shorts? I bet Dana White has something to say about that.
- I was surprised at how well Pat Miletech did as a color commentator. Miletech had great chemistry with Johnson and Ranallo, while offering good insight. I can't believe I am writing this but I actually enjoyed his commentary.
- Now that Cyborg won, let's just move on to the Gina Carano fight. That way both fighters can miss weight and blame it on feminine anatomy.
- I feel sick to my stomach watching Akano-Cyborg, due to the whole weight issue before the fight. Akano is probably fighting upwards to twenty pounds her weight. The fight shouldn't of occurred and Akano deserves all the credit in the world for taking it. Hopefully this trend of top women fighters doing whatever they want, with regards to weight, will end.
- Hitomi Akano just doesn't look happy to be fighting at all.
- Natural differences between male and female anatomies? What a PC way of saying breasts. Dana White fans are not amused.
- Is Mickey Rourke going to start showing up to every event that may have something to do with The Wrestler. We get it Mickey, you were a fuck up, and a movie about a washed up wrestler saved your career. Now, please go back to being in Enrique Iglesias music videos.
- Post-fight statistics was a real nice subtle addition to the telecast.
- Abongo Humphrey and Brett Rogers had a little Troy Polamalu moment.
- Nice to see Strikeforce give a video tutorial of what is against the rules but I just wish that they didn't show fish hooking. You would hope that new observers would naturally assume that was illegal.
- Tito Ortiz is getting booed everywhere now.
