Dana White "Embarrassed" by UFC 97's Main Event
Dana White was clearly displeased with what took place last night in Montreal,
"I apologize. I personally apologize for what happened tonight," White said. "You guys know, this isn't what the UFC was built on and this isn't the way the fights usually go. Listen, any night you can have an off-night. When a guy is that talented and can literally end a fight whenever he wants to, wow."
"I can honestly tell you that I’ve never put on an event that I was embarrassed to be at until tonight," White said. "I want to publicly apologize to all the fans."
While I share in White's disgust and embarrassment he needs only look into the mirror to see the real culprit, himself.
Thales Leites was never a legit contender and the UFC did a disservice to Leites, Silva and their fans by putting this fight together. At least five middleweight fighters deserved a title shot before Leites. They are, in no particular order, Dan Henderson, Michael Bisping, Demian Maia, Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami.
There is an old addage that you reap what you sow, and the UFC will be reaping the harvest of two horrible main events featuring Anderson Silva and questionable talent for some time now.
