Carlos Condit is in for a tough ride
Condit graduated from the little kids playground last night, unfortunately he didn't pull off the victory.
Martin Kampmann utilized a very simple game plan to neutralize Condit. Kampmann used strikes to close the distance, once in the clinch Kampmann took Condit down. From there, Kampmann either went for submissions or ground-and-pound. This formula allowed Kampmann to win two rounds and come extremely close to winning the first.
Condit was incapable to stop Kampmann's takedowns. So how will he handle the top wrestlers within the UFC welterweight division?
Now Condit will have to contend with the likes of Mike Swick, Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch and dare I say George St. Pierre.
Condit was the former WEC welterweight champion, that division was discontinued by the WEC. Carlos's eight fight win streak catapulted him up in the rankings. However, when it comes to the welterweight division, the UFC holds the cream of the crop. It now contains nine of the top-ten welterweights. Condit's loss to an unranked welterweight may be a troubling sign for his future.
Condit is clearly a talented welterweight but he has a tough road ahead of him in the most stacked division in MMA.
