WKR on Dana White's rant
Dana White's expletive laden rant has received a fair amount of play and rightfully so. White's tirade highlights a total lack of professionalism and respect for a journalist who is simply doing her job. Perhaps this why ESPN forgets who White is when he goes to Bristol?
White is unquestionably the face of the UFC and MMA. When he does something like this, he makes the entire community appear amateurish, crude, degrading and unintelligent. He devalues us as fans, all in the name of some bizarre media bullying strategy. I suggest that everyone read Maggie Hendrick's take on the situation.
Overall such behavior is completely unacceptable for a sport that is still looking for mainstream acceptance. After all the UFC is still fighting to legalize the sport in certain states. I wouldn't be surprised if Bob Reilly starts showing this video to serve his agenda in the New York legalization battle.
Perhaps the UFC is more concerned with showing a lack of respect for independent media. After all Loretta Hunt is just a reporter for Sherdog, the MMA content partner of ESPN, the largest sports media network in the world. So attacking her is just a drop in the bucket, right?
