K.J. Noons realizes what an idiot he was. Wants to fight Nick Diaz
(HT: Fight Ticker via MMA Convert)
A year ago things looked great for K.J. Noons. He had just defeated Nick Diaz for the EliteXC lightweight title. At the time EliteXC had just entered a partnership with CBS and put the first MMA show on primetime network television. It appeared that Noons was prepared to face off with Diaz on CBS as one of the marquee match ups, but then Noons started acting like an idiot and torpedo his own career.
Noons refused to fight Diaz for several reasons which changed continuously, including not having a bio-baseball card in the EliteXC DVD, a claim later proved false. EliteXC gave him a deadline to accept the fight or face being stripped of his title. Noons scoffed at the organization and was then promptly srtipped of his lightweight title. It was at this point that K.J. started acting like Tito Ortiz, declaring his free agency from EliteXC.
ProElite would eventually fold and Noons went off to go compete in boxing. Where he proved that he was in fact a crappy boxer.
Now that Strikeforce has bought ProElite and Nick Diaz is one of their main draws --Diaz just defeated Frank Shamrock in Strikeforce's first Showtime event since the purchase-- guess who is coming out of the wood work?
That's right, K.J. Noons is back baby.
In the above video Noons announces his return to MMA and describes how he is anxiously awaiting Strikeforce's call for him to fight Nick Diaz. (Could this possible be because they haven't called him?)
Sorry K.J. your damaged goods. Your stock was never higher a year ago but you pissed it all away over a baseball card.
Now you will be lucky if anyone signs you with your ridiculous agent Mark Dion.
