Bill Simmons latest ESPN The Magazine piece talks about his new found love of hockey. Part of that is enjoy a good fight and I quote, "The UFC made fighting profitable and acceptable."

Bill’s apparently been a fan of MMA for a while, now. He slips references to MMA into a lot of his columns.

This is actually a brilliant idea. The Sports Guy has a huge following, is combat sport-friendly, and would probably show too. Why has this not been done?

I have no idea.
But seriously with all his Rocky, Tyson and boxing references clearly he likes combat sports.
The UFC really needs to try and woo him to the Dark side

I think he actually already watches MMA, but doesn’t reference it often. He’s made several references to seeing guys like Bruce Buffer and Chuck Liddell at nightclubs, and he sounds like someone who is familiar with who they are, not just someone who “knows of them”. Whatever sized stack of money it would take to get him to write a completely MMA article, just give it to him!

in the latest podcast about ‘three crazy ideas’ they referenced Kimbo Slice and Chuck Liddell and that should take on NBA enforcer roles a la enforcers who fight in hockey.

He recently did a message board section on ESPN for the NBA Playoffs where he made a joke about Dana White. I think it was after 2nd post something to the effect, that he already put in more posts today than Dana earlier in the week.
