Heath Herring catches injury bug (literally)

Heath-herring_medium

Heath Herring has pulled out of his UFC 99 bout with Cain Velasquez. The reason for Herring's departure is an undisclosed illness that has left him unable to train for at least a week. UFC 99 is scheduled for June 13th, twenty four days from now.

Herring (28-14) was suppose to test Velasquez (5-0) a rising heavyweight prospect. With Herring's withdrawal the UFC will need to find a replacement in the always thin division.

With Velasquez opponent less and the recent announcement of Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic's return some are clamoring for the two to meet. Personally, I believe this should happen though I highly doubt the UFC will be thrilled about having one of their top prospects meet a fighter that fell from grace inside the Octagon. It seems far more likely that a heavyweight will be called up from another card or from the minors to face Velasquez.

Haha, lets hope note. Sounds like Mono

Personally it does seem a bit fishy. Maybe Herring just wants to stay in teh UFC a bit longer
