Phillipe Nover meets an early demise, other UFC 98 early results
Phillipe Nover met an early demise against UFC newcomer Kyle Bradley at UFC 98. Bradley did not hold a victory in the UFC until tonight.
Nover is an alum from the eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter. Dana White famously compared him to Anderson Silva. White either has trouble identifying talent or is simply trying too hard to make people watch the reality show.
There is some controversy regarding the officiating though. According to the Junkie, Yves Lavigne pulled a double take when stopping the fight and the crowd was none too pleased. Steve Cofield didn't mention a hesitation by Lavigne but commented on how Nover had recovered by the time Lavigne intervened.
Lavigne has recently been surrounded with controversy since UFC 96 where he let the Pete Sell Matt Brown fight go too long.

Nover did go limp.
I thin we can say it is a bad call due to the hesitation on Lavignes part. If he had instantly stopped the fight then we see it as ’Oh Nover went limp Lavigne stopped the fight, close but ok call"
Instead we have Nover rolling into gurad with a weird pseudo-stoppage. Which makes everything see, worse.
Funny how Goldie said “it is UFC 96 all over again”.
