Fedor vs. Josh Barnett possibly set for August
According to a report by the Russian website Mixfight.ru (via the UG), Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett will fight in August of this year.
No word on an exact date or an announcement by Affliction but the August date seems odd considering there are two UFC cards during that month. Perhaps Affliction is looking to avoid counter programming by sandwiching their event between two UFC events.
Fedor (30-1) is the current WAMMA heavyweight champion and the potential fight between him and Josh Barnett would most likely be for the WAMMA belt. Fedor won the WAMMA title by defeating former UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia, in Affliction's first event. Fedor then defended his title against another former UFC heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski.
Josh Barnett (24-5) has fought twice for Affliction avenging a loss against Pedro Rizzo and defeating Gilbert Yvel.
