Anderson Silva and Roy Jones Jr. mutual infatuation continues
It is starting to get creepy how much Roy Jones Jr. and Anderson Silva want to fight each other. Is this some weird Oedipus Rex complex?
The latest chapter involves Roy Jones Jr. offering to fight Anderson Silva in the UFC under MMA rules. Does that mean that Anderson Silva will finally have his wish of fighting Jones Jr. fulfilled? Only if Dana White gives his okay.
Unfortunately for "The Spider", White is going to pass,
"You won't see a Silva versus Jones fight while Silva is under contract with me," White said Tuesday. "I don't want to say anything bad about Roy Jones, I like Roy Jones and was a fan of his, but he mattered like fifteen years ago. He's not anywhere near the best boxer in the world. He must've spent all his money."
As I said before, this is getting really weird and annoying. A lot of us just can't understand why these two men have such a healthy obsession for one another. It's bordering on a full blown Seth Rogen Paul Rudd man-crush.
On the other hand some part of me just can't help but think that this is some strategy by Silva and his management to get more money out of Zuffa or just piss off Dana White. Right now they are definitely succeeding in the later.
Hopefully this fight won't happen, though I am sure Dream would be more than willing to set this fight up.
