Bellator keeps expanding their female division
At Bellator V, the fledgling organization held their first female fight between Jessica Pene and Tammy Schneider. Pene won that inaugural bout.
Bellator is now expanding their female ranks and are using a familiar strategy, find a fighter's wife.
Kerry Vera, the wife of UFC light heavyweight Brandon Vera, will fight at Bellator VII. Vera has an amateur record of (2-1) and fights with a background in Muy Thai. Her opponent is Leslie Smith (4-0).
Bellator VII occurs next Friday in Chicago, Illinois.

women's mma
we need an organization to finally set some weight class standards so future fighters can be better prepared for their fights. Constantly fluctuating weight classes has to be hard for women and I feel you don’t get a sense of there true abilities. I say this because if you keep changing weight classes then your body reacts differently at each one how are you supposed to develop a good fighting set when both you and your opponents are at different weights every time you enter the cage?
