Satoshi Ishii finds a new home (sort of)

The 2008 Olympic Judo Gold medalist, Satoshi Ishii, has been flirting with mixed martial arts ever since he won the medal at Beijing last year. Despite the high profile verbal flirtations with several MMA promotions, including the UFC, Ishii has yet to participate in an MMA bout.

Now there is a new report that Ishii has signed with Sengoku.

As of this moment Ishii has only signed a provisional contract and is set to sign the actual document later this week. If everything goes according to plan, which in Ishii's case seems unlikely, then the heavyweight will make his debut in the fall.

After Satoshi Ishii won the gold medal he popped up on MMA radars after he challenged Fedor to a fight. While this never came to fruition, a young, talented, heavyweight who happens to be a judo gold medalist instantly got a lot of attention from promotions.

First was Japan's Fighting Entertainment Group (they run K-1 and Dream). Then Ishii backed out of that deal and appeared ready to join the UFC. Despite being verbally committed to fight for the UFC Ishii got cold feet. Once again he backed out of that deal despite the red carpet treatment Zuffa rolled out for him.

Now Ishii appears to have found his cup of portage that is neither too hot nor too cold.
