Dana White is an embarrasment to UFC

As the UFC gains popularity and positions itself to become a major contender in the talk of the biggest sports in the world, unfortunately as big as Dana White has managed to grow the UFC he may ultimately be the man that kills it.  While the UFC is currently undergoing unprecedented growth it is also under attack for its legitimacy and the sometimes brutal nature of the sport.  UFC athletes can hardly be called role models and sometimes seem to cross the line between what is acceptable and what is not.  Perhaps the biggest problem is that the man at the top of this multi million dollar company acts like he is still the head of his college frat.

Imagine if the commissioner of the NBA David Stern had a you tube video where he was hurling insults at a reporter for writing something that didn’t shed a good light on the NBA.  Imagine on top of that if he then refused to even apologize for his ridiculous remarks.  He would be fired before we even officially heard about it.  The stereotypes about UFC fighters are that they are brutal and their fighters are too dangerous to ever become mainstream athletes.  Dana White is only supporting this perception about his fighters in his actions and words.

While he deserves all of the credit in the world for growing the UFC exponentially every year, he is what will ultimately keep it from having mainstream success.  New York is a prime example of a city that UFC would love to hold its venues, but government leaders are reluctant to allow the UFC in New York citing Dana Whites ridiculous rants as one of the primary reasons.

Is it too much to ask of Dana White to dress appropriately at his nationally televised events.  Dressing like a frat boy is fine for the months where you are not on national TV, but blazers and jeans do not cut it.  Quit with the ridiculous use of profanity, he sounds like a frustrated high school kid trying to sound tough.  Is it too much to ask for him not to curse and throw out profanities at every news conference he holds?  He needs to quit talking trash about his stars, last time I checked they were the ones getting into the cage and making you money so stop trash talking about your stars like Anderson Silva.  Sometimes it seems like he would rather have these guys fight to the death and have shortened careers then seen true MMA fighting.  For the love of god quit making video bogs and finally act like you represent a multi million dollar company.

The UFC will never gain mainstream popularity with this monkey at the helms.  They will never be on national television they will never get off of Spike TV, and they will never get major corporate sponsors.  Fact is the UFC is going to need bigger corporate backing then Harley Davidson.  Dana White is an embarrassment to not only MMA but himself, and the fact is things like his blog set back the organization.  You can not deny how far White has brought the UFC under his leadership but things like this can set it back permanently.  Fact is the UFC needed Dana White in the beginning to create some hype about the company, I believe the UFC has outgrown the leadership the White can provide.

The UFC needs a friendly ambassador that will open it up to mainstream audience and mainstream corporate backing, instead of a fucking idiot who can’t keep his mouth shut.  Maybe it speaks to Whites success that his embarrassing behavior is just dismissed as Dana being Dana.  I believe it speaks more to the fact that the UFC is light-years away from being compared to its bigger counterparts.  In these major sports the line of credibility and accountability is not only defined but also enforced.  It’s like when your parents would say “if you can’t act like an adult then we can’t treat you like an adult”.  Dana its time for you to act like a fucking adult or everyone is going to start treating you like the frat boy adult you are.

First, I want to say welcome collegeturner

Second, Dana White is such a polarizing figure. Why he does have his issues he also has a loyal rabid fanbase, something that makes him all the more interesting, influential and a potential roadblock

I dont think there is anything inheirently wrong witha video blog. I like the “behind the scene” perspective. However, I was tempted tp call Nevada CPS after watching that bozo shock his kids. It was obvious that wasn’t the 1st time the shock pen zapped the youngsters. The thing that really bothers me is he has disregard for fighters safety. If those guys of TUF start to think about their own well being or consider their injuries beofre taking a fight then Dana comes to the conclusion that they must not be a “real fighter”. Excuse me, I know real fighter and they care about their health and injuries just like the rest of us. Who can forget the total disregard for fighters safety after Junie shattered glass near someone’s head. Junie showed several times could have seriously injured someone. At first Dana said it would be up to the fighters if he stays. BULLSHIT! You cared more about ratings than the fighter’s safety. Everyone of those guys would have happily seen Junie hit the road that night. Didn’t your lawers tell you that no waiver of liabilty form protects you from gross negligence? Dana, fighters are normal people who dont want glass thrown in their face and who appreciate an opporitunity to seriously consider their options in the face of adversity instead of mindlessly doing your bidding.
Thank goodness for Bellator and Strikeforce. Lets make sure those guys stick around.

the health issue is a very interesting one. The UFC has dished out $ for people who suffer catastrophic injuries, like Corey Hill, but they arent there for the daily grind that occurs.

So let’s get nationalized health care for the fighters, whoo! Just trying to be funny hehe

Dana White

Half the worlds population is under the age of 25. As long as society is in the state it is in today Dana will be fine. The younger generation and the larger part of the population love Dana, they love crude, rude and dirty remarks and jokes. I am not defending Dana, ecspecially calling out his greatest fighter and one of the best athletes on the face of the earth. The Ufc has role models, I consider Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva and fighers from these countries who have nothing, only to live and breathe martial arts as role models. They practice great dicipline and mental and physical preparation beyong any athlete I know in any other sport. I am not saying all fighters are like this, usually not the American ones. But the fighters who will hold there rank for long periods of time because they put the work in morning, day and night deserve much respect. Martial Arts has been around longer than any other sport, so yes maybe it is already bigger than any sport, its energy just hasnt been focused into one arena like the UFC is trying to do now. Look how many records Eminem sells spilling his filth and nostalgia on the Wolrd. Hes very talented dont get me wrong. Much respect. It just shows societies state of mind, so no Dana White is not going anywhere and he is very appealing to the generation that is soon to take over the World. Were global now folks. Much respect to the true martial artists deep in their dicipline cultivating mind and body. You are true warriors and true role models of self control.
