UFC launches Japanese language site
The UFC published a press release today highlighting their new Japanese language sites for both UFC.com and UFC Mobile.
Las Vegas, NV (USA) and SMJ Co. Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan) -- In a move to bring the UFC® experience one step closer for mixed martial arts fans in Japan, The Ultimate Fighting Championship® officially launched the first Japanese-language UFC web and mobile sites. Japanese fight fans can now access UFC via the new and only UFC branded Japanese PC and mobile sites across all three major carriers' 3G networks in Japan.
The announcement of an official Japanese language site will no doubt fuel speculation that the UFC is preparing for Japanese expansion. The UFC has continued to add Japanese fighters to their roster. The return of Caol Uno and the signing of Yoshihiro Akiyama are recent examples of the UFC adding more Japanese talent.
The UFC Japanese site will also feature WEC fighters and updates. The WEC also contains a roster of solid Japanese fighters. WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres defeated two Japanese fighters, Yoshiro Maeda and Takeya Mizugaki, in extremely memorable bouts that were often discussed as respective "Fight of the Year" candidates.
