"Cro Cop" the Capitalist

5gt5ggg_medium

I am still reading a lot of "Cro Cop" sucks posts, stories and comments so I figured I would weigh in with a economic perspective.

Mirko Filipovic didn't make his decision to "screw over" Dana White or the UFC. He made the decision based upon economic realities and which contract gave him the greatest benefits. Filipovic will get to fight in Dream whenever he wants, against weaker competition and all the while for equal, or perhaps, better pay than he would of received in the UFC. Sounds like a pretty cushy deal when compared to the alternative.

Look, "Cro Cop" made a decision that was in his best interests both financially and for his health. While it may be the exact opposite of what we the fans want and it will surely damage his legacy and perspective political aspirations, I can't fault an athlete for making a financial and health decision. As I said before, if we are going to be a die-hard capitalist people we can't take umbrage when someone acts like a die-hard capitalist.

"i don't know if i will be ufc champ but i will die trying" mirko cro cop

well he lead us to believe that he was in the ufc for the long run. if you had planned to leave just shut your mouth. don’t lead fans to believe that you are back for the long haul and burn out like black fathers lol. ps im black its the truth

if he wants to lie then that is his issue. But then again we don’t know if he lied or Dream offered him a better deal then the UFC.

As I said before, if we are going to be a capitalist people we can’t be outraged when someone acts like a capitalist

Ummm..

We’ve all heard his words….so now I’m wondering when you developed the ability to read his mind. Objective journalism at its finest.

“In my opinion” would have been a good choice for your first sentence.

You're right.

I missed that.

In my opinion, there is something a little shady going on with Mirko. I have been a fan of his for god only knows how long, and there have been clues such as his bully-like sense of humor, but now I find that he is likely just a user and his personal honor code is quite flexible.

see I understand why fans (including myself) are upset. But I had an epiphany.

His situation in Dream is probably the correct choice. He will receive equal pay (at the least), be able to pick when he wants to fight and due to lower competition will probably not have to worry about long term health issues.

Also, if Mirko believes he cant hang in the UFC or that he is on the down swing of his career, then he could be thinking “hey I dont want to get my ass kicked again and tarnish my legacy even more, so I’ll fight once and got to back to triple-A and finish my career”

Makes sense. I never would have considered Mirko the type to do an intentional eyepoke, but now I’m wondering. He looked decent before it but he might have felt that al Turk wasn’t going to be easy to put away.
With his years of experience (much like Henderson) I find it unacceptable that BOTH of al Turk’s eyes were hit. Mirko doesn’t know by now not to have his fingers out when his arm is extended?
I think he was looking for a way out of the match. SHADY.
