Thoughts on B.S. Report
After listening to the B.S. Report I was left with several thoughts.
- Simmons doesn't really know anything about the UFC but he is interested, which is a positive. He is the most popular sports writer in America and has the most popular sports podcast in America, so getting him on board would be a coup. Thus the UFC needs to give this guy cage side tickets to their December event.
- Simmons was always a wrestling fan (which is why he should make the transition well) but the inevitable comparisons between the UFC and WWE were really grating.
- Speaking of the WWE half of the podcast is about it. Simmons really loves the 80's.
- Bill picked his favorite fighter by nickname, "The Doberman." Unfortunately he picked C.B. Dollaway.
- Meltzer made the comment that a death is inevitable in the UFC. But he moved the goal posts back to within the next 25 years. This of course could be said about the NFL and would generate a ton of outrage. However for those that saw Willis McGahee get knocked out by Ryan Clark I think the chance of a death in the NFL is far greater than in the UFC. Oh, Kevin Everett too.
- Amazing that it too Brock Lesnar, a WWE wrestler, to get some major attention. Apparently we do need dominant heavyweights for people to be interested.
