UFC Business News: Dana White is feeling the stress about England, Mark Cuban is a Zuffa bond holder and who isn't covering the Zuffa sponsor tax
UFC 100: DANA WHITE is getting crushed by UK fans, he fires back (via Cage Writer)
The UFC is still trying recovering from Setanta's collapse. While they will stream UFC 100 live on UFC.com (in the U.K. only) and the event will be shown on Sky, many U.K. fans are not pleased. (Read more at The Telegraph).
Mark Cuban is now a bond holder of the UFC
MMAPayout.com has learned that Mark Cuban is now a Zuffa bondholder. The size of Cuban's position is unknown, however, being a bondholder has its privileges. In addition to potential financial returns, he now has access to Zuffa's financial results. While he cannot make those results public, he will be able to closely monitor the company's financial status.
I don't think many people saw this coming. It will be interesting to learn the exact date when Cuban bout the bonds. If it aligned with the reconciliation between Zuffa and Randy Couture that would be very interesting.
Also, the issue of Zuffa's new sponsor tax got a fair amount of play in the MMA online community, well, unless you are these guys,
Also lacking in coverage have been the content partners at MMAJunkie and Yahoo.com. Steve Sievert at MMAJunkie helped break news on the sponsor tax situation back in January/Februaury, but the site has done no follow up since Sam Caplan's piece shed new light. That is disappointing. Also totally forgoing any coverage has been the Yahoo team of writers and bloggers. Since they now sell themselves as covering UFC (as opposed to MMA) and have their own PPV distribution deal with the UFC, the question to ask is are you being served by Yahoo's coverage? I don't think so, not very well at all. While the usual Yahoo gameplan for covering controversial UFC topics is to bring up the subject and then offer a ham-handed defense of the UFC's tactics, even that mode of attack has seemed to go by the wayside this time.
While this is deplorable it ensures WKR will be able to provide a unique service to MMA fans.
