UFC attempts to re-write history

Frank Shamrock revolutionized MMA when he became UFC middleweight champion

There is an old saying that history is written by the victors.

In the run up to UFC 100 and at the UFC Fan Expo Zuffa attempted to blot out the impact of Frank Shamrock and Tito Ortiz, two fighters held in low regards by Dana White.

MMA Fanhouse recaps the reaction from the media though Micahel David Smith fails to offer a condemnation,

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and Yahoo writes, "It's so petty that they didn't even allow fans to vote for the fight."

Kid Nate at Bloody Elbow decries the UFC's tactics in a post headlined, "UFC's Stalinist View of MMA History Erases Frank Shamrock."

Steve Cofield of Cage Writer and ESPN 1100 in Las Vegas says, "Frankly, this whole thing is ridiculous."

Whatever your opinion of Shamrock and Ortiz they were instrumental in the survival of the UFC. If the Fan Expo was really a celebration of the history of the UFC how can they ignore two prolific champions?

It will be interesting to see if MMA Weekly and MMA Junkie cover the fact that two former UFC champions were black listed for reasons that are unknown. The whole affair just makes Zuffa look small and thin-skinned.

It seems like every week we read something more from Dana/Zuffa that makes them sound more tyrannical. I’m starting to believe they really are that bad.

these metaphysical questions scare me.

Am I spending all my time following a sport where the leaders are potentially evil?

The whole list is B.S

This whole list is a crock of $%^, as one of my fans pointed out the other day. How the hell can Randy vs Vitor 1 be ranked at number 40? Machida vs Evans ranked in the 20’s is way too high. The list was dominated by recent UFC events, which made it lame.

The UFC should have focused on 20 to 25 fights and made their list from there.
