Taekwondo Death!
Horrible news,
THE teenager who dealt a fatal kick to his taekwondo opponent last week showed up at the wake on Sunday night to pay his respects.
Accompanied by his parents and sister, the 15-year-old approached the mother of the late Vincent Tan mother, sombre, to offer his apology.
Vincent, 17, died last Thursday, four days after the kick to his neck ruptured a key blood vessel to his brain.
A real tragedy but this event tells us that accidents happen in athletic competition and it behooves us not to overreact with platitudes to score cheap political points. Had such a death occurred in an MMA event, mainstream outlets would of inevitably ran with a story about the brutality of the sport and question whether it is safe.
As MMA fans we need to brace ourselves for such attacks. After all, the mainstream media would never attack baseball as unsafe after a 16 year old was killed after being hit by a pitch or decry hockey as being a scourge on society after a 13 year old girl was struck and killed by a puck at a Columbus Blue Jackets game.

Tragedy
This is an absolute tragedy, but any kind of martial art or combat sport has its risks. People are at risk in any sport…whether it be football, baseball, lacrosse, hockey etc.
