Ulterior motive in White's reconciliation?

The sudden an unexpected Tito Ortiz and Dana White's twitter reconciliation had many fans scratching their heads. After all don't these two men absolutely despise one another? Some believed that there was a possibility that the UFC was hoping to secure Ortiz for a fight with Rich Franklin. While the chances of such a fight were remote to begin with we now know that Franklin will be fighting Dan Henderson

It isn't just Tito Ortiz. Pat Miletich recently commented to MMA Insider that he is seeking a meeting with White to hash out their differences.

Why the sudden love-fest from White?

MMA Payout offers an alternative explanation,

EA MMA - Ortiz has spent a year away from the sport rehabbing an injured back and is probably on the backside of his career but he still possesses much name recognition to the general public when it comes to MMA. His name and likeness would be a valuable commodity for the folks putting together the EA MMA game. The folks at EA may also find some value in using Miletich for their game. The EA Fight Night series for boxing is known for signing greats from boxing's past in order to supplement their roster of in game talent. White's moves to improve ties to Miletich and Ortiz may include some measure to preclude their involvement with the EA game. White is rumored to have signed on Royce Gracie for the THQ game and Miletich may be another name to add to that list if the two can come to some agreement.

If Ortiz and Miletich sign on to THQ's video game it will definitely help undercut Electronic Arts future roster (still don't understand the logic behind this) but EA is betting on the product not the license with their production.

Also this shows that the UFC is still the bread winner for fighters within the industry.

ortiz is allready on ufc undisputed so i dont see the point…with milletich i believe he just has come to the conclusion that the ufc is the only game in town, its level of success is not capable of duplicating..he quit wamma a few months ago and is now trying to get along with dana. never know maybe he just wants in the hall of fame and one comeback/farewell fight, i would enjoy watching that

I was confused by MMA Payouts piece since Ortiz is in UFC Undisputed.

But since he is out of the UFC I am assuming he could still sign on to EA. If the UFC fought it that might be an ugly legal battle that could end poorly for the UFC (not sure how many judges would be comfortable with the UFC’s rights e.g. “name, sobriquet, voice, persona, signature, likeness and/or biography.”
