Report: Vitor Belfort has signed on to fight Fedor
The Fight Network is reporting that Vitor Belfort has signed on to fight Fedor and Affliction "Trilogy."
Shawn Tompkins, head trainer at Xtreme Couture, has confirmed to The Fight Network that Vitor Belfort has signed on to fight Fedor Emelianenko August 1st at the Affliction 'Trilogy' event in Anaheim, California.
Belfort, a middleweight, will face top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko on August 1st at the Honda Center in California. Fedor was suppose to fight Josh Barnett but Barnett recently tested positive for the steroid Drostanolone.
[UPDATE: Note by Zak Woods, 07/22/09 9:52 PM EDT ]
MMA Junkie is reporting that neither Fabricio Werdum or Brett Rogers will be fighting Fedor further corroborate The Fight Networks report.
Disclaimer: The Fight Network report was before today's conference call with Affliction. Also, MMA Junkie reported earlier that Belfort had verbally agreed to fight Fedor. Currently it appears that Belfort is the front-runner to fight Fedor.

w00t? I dont know how to feel. :(
Maybe if he was cutting down to LHW like in the past. I’m still watching it though :)
GSP: I pulled my groin.
Greg Jackson: I don't care Georges! HIT HIM WITH YOUR GROIN!
Fedor is around 230 and Vitor should be at 215 supposedly so its not that big of a deal I guess. Any word on 3 rd or 5 rd? WAMMA belt on the line? Oh noes! lol

It would be pretty funny if Vitor beat Fedor and then went to the UFC. Dana White could probably do an entire video blog just laughing for five straight minutes.
It’s in the air, too. I had this same feeling before Brett Rogers knocked out Arlovski and Zaromskis blew through Mach. The once invisible fighters are falling one by one. It’s going to happen to Fedor eventually and he didn’t look good against Arlovski. So, why not Vitor?
I would pay to see Lashley
I dont think he would win, but imagine the thought of that upset. Vince McMahon would love to see Brock versus Lashley – love it so much he would problay try to be the guest referee.
I think Belfort is a good fight but not one that is a headliner.
So what happens with Jorge Santiago?
