Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo?
I guess this is rumor week.
Sportsnet.ca is reporting that Frank Mir and Cheick Kongo could meet at UFC 107.
A source close to Kongo informed Sportsnet that the French striker is tentatively scheduled to face Frank Mir at UFC 107 in Memphis, TN.
...
Mir's camp has stated they have yet to hear of this fight request, but have stated they are definitely interested in fighting Kongo.
Frank Mir (12-4) recently lost to Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 in a heavyweight unification bout. Mir had previously won the interim title after defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92.
Cheick Kongo (14-5-1) is also coming off a loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 99. Prior to UFC 99 Kongo was riding a three fight win streak and many were considering him a challenger for the heavyweight title.
UFC 107 is scheduled for December 12th in Memphis, Tennessee. The rumored main event is a light heavyweight bout between TUF 10 coaches, Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans.

Mir sucks
I think Mir’ll be in trouble against Kongo. Kongo has the reach advantage, and Mir is slow moving. If Kongo can avoid grappling/takedowns it should be fine. But that’s a big if. Kongo tends to win 3 fights in a row, get somewhat close to a title shot, and then lose. Considering he just lost to Velasquez, he should win his next one… and I think Mir’s on the way out. That win against Nogueira was a joke, I’ve never seen Nog so pathetic and old looking.
