Jay Hieron signs with Strikeforce prepares for Diaz
MMA Weekly is reporting that Jay Hieron has signed with Strikeforce.
Hieron was slated to fight Paul Daley on the now defunct Affliction "Trilogy" fightcard. Yet the sudden cancellation of "Trilogy," due to Josh Barnett's positive drug test, and subsequent collapse of the fight promotion has left the Xtreme Couture fighter a free agent.
According to MMA Weekly's report Hieron will fight Nick Diaz.
Diaz was suppose to fight Joe Riggs for Strikeforce's first ever welterweight title. However Riggs was force to withdraw due to a bad drug reaction. There is no confirmation that the Hieron-Diaz fight will be at welterweight or for the new Strikeforce welterweight title.
Hieron usually fights at middleweight while Diaz fluctuates between middleweight, welterweight and even lightweight (160lbs. for EliteXC).
