Apparently Randy Couture Forgot Who Fedor is
On my way into work this morning I was trying to listen to the show called "Mike and Mike in the Morning." I write trying to listen because there is more commercial time than show time. I also refer to it as the show called Mike and Mike because they are becoming the new PTI where one of the anchors is always on a day off. Despite all that I very much enjoy the show when both Mikes are on board so I do listen. Today Golic and Erik Kuselias, I think, were interviewing Randy Couture. Randy was asked who the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport are and he mentioned Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre. Obviously both of these men are in the discussion, but he did not even mention Fedor. This is not surprising because the UFC does not want to promote other fighters before their landmark event and the UFC refuses to acknowledge there are other talented fighters outside of Zuffa operated promotions. However, I found it amusing that the man who participated in an ugly contract dispute and campaigned to get a fight against Fedor so quickly tows the company line. I was hoping for at least a mention of arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time and I am disappointed that I got the answer I expected to hear.

Or maybe he doesn’t think Fedor is on the list. He’s said it in the past when he was trying to promote the possible fight, but opinions do change.
True
but I think there is large consensus in the MMA community about the top 3 in the p4p list. While the order is diff almost every1 agrees it should be Fedor, GSP and Anderson Silva. All three have cleaned out their respective divisions

I don’t think Randy’s comments are at all shaped by the UFC propaganda/hype machine. Joe Rogan often name-drops non-UFC fighters during the UFC’s own PPV’s, so it’s not like Randy’s not permitted to speak Fedor’s name.
More likely that he, like many people, just thinks that heavyweights generally shouldn’t be considered in P4P discussions.
i am not the conspiracy kid who thinks zuffa is controlling the MMA world, but i thought it was weird he did not even mention fedor.
-While this point is not what the post was about, i disagree a little about the UFC name dropping. Rogan does name drop and has done more recently, but they rarely if ever mention Fedor specifically. Aoki,Belfort, etc…, but not Fedor
