Brock Lesnar Smash!
(Don't make Brock Lesnar angry you wouldn't like him when he's angry)
Watching this video makes it difficult for me to take Brock Lesnar seriously.
Do I believe that Lesnar is angry about the loss to Frank Mir and Mazzagatti's poor refereeing, absolutely. But Brock's past with the WWE, and the subsequent promoting skills he had to learn, make this entire segment feel extremely disingenuous. This type of promoting is the nature of the beast I suppose, but it brings me back to the days of Bret Hart.
I think that if Brock Lesnar ever sees Vince McMahon again he will channel his inner Darth Vader and say, "I have been waiting for you Vince McMahon...When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master."

Sorry for the double post but I just noticed Yahoo Sports has officially changed the “MMA” heading to “UFC.”

Hmmm...
I felt like BOTH Lesnar and Mir were full of crap in last nights countdown. Mir just came off as a slimeball and Lesnar came off as well… Lesnar.
I don’t think its fair to say, “But Brock’s past with the WWE, and the subsequent promoting skills he had to learn…” because if you’re in entertainment at ALL you will pick up those “promoting skills” which was highly evident during Mir’s sh*t talking.
I can not wait for Lesnar to pound a hole in Mir’s slimy face. That guy just makes my stomach turn.

fair point.
I think what I was trying to get at was that when he engages in those promotional skills it just makes me feel like a 13y/o watching DX, Triple H and Mankind. Not that I mind re-living parts of my adolescence its just that I am uncomfortable when the lines are blurred between the UFC and the WWE

I kinda got that from your post
I just don’t think its fair to say that Lesnar is the only one guilty of pulling WWE promotional tactics in this case. Mir is certainly reminding me of a smug Rick Flair or Million Dollar Man in their better heel days.

I don’t want to get all Hume on u but it is exactly my previous experience with Lesnar, as a WWE entertainer, which illictis such feelings

I was a wrestling fan too
So I’m no stranger to the over the top hype they tend to practive. (I was watching it when Lesnar first entered the WWE, but lost interest not too long after.) My point is, Mir is doing a good job of mirroring the same kind of over the top hype despite never being in professional wrestling.
My 2 cents.

I agree that there is a certain element of WWE-style promotion in MMA right now and we should call it as such.

Death Clutch
Lesnar has become a celebrity, not just a fighter. He stays away from the media and could care less about advertising himself, yet millions of people are still interested. He sells the most pay per views. He has defeated a number of other huge fighters. He has his own brand, Death Clutch. I’m not saying I agree with the amount of hype that surrounds him, but whether people like him or not, he is still the biggest fighter in the UFC.
