The UFC just can't quit Mirko "Cro Cop"

Cro-cop1_medium

It has been confirmed.

Junior dos Santos will fight Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 103.

Junior dos Santos was originally suppose to fight Justin McCully at UFC 102. Earlier this week McCully claimed that  dos Santos was hurt and was pulling out of their fight. However reports later surfaced that dos Santos was preparing to fight Mirko Filipovic.

Filipovic was thought to be ostracized by the UFC after UFC 99 where the Croatian star decided not to re-sign with the UFC in favor of a more lucrative deal with the Japanese promotion Dream. At the time Filipovic had been signed by an unprecedented verbal one fight contract.

Later it was discovered that Zuffa owner, Lorenzo Fertitta, flew to Croatia to offer "Cro Cop" a new contract. Apparently the former Pride star couldn't resist.

The Junior dos Santos  Mirko Filipovic fight joins the welterweight clash between Martin Kampmann and Carlos Condit as well as a fight between Josh Koscheck and Frank Trigg.

In scientific news medical professionals now feel safe in concluding that  "Cro Cop" is as addictive as crack to all UFC officials.

Dana is the face and the voice, but Lorenzo is the behind the scenes puppet master and fixer.

As much as I don’t think Cro Cop is anywhere near the Cro Cop of old, this will be a nice test for dos Santos and another name fighter for him to beat on his way up the ranks.

Shamelessly self-promoting since 1997...
