Patrick Cote's MCL is 'busted'
Patrick Cote, the man who "took" Anderson Silva to the third round before his knee imploded, will undergo a second knee surgery and will be out until early 2010.
Cote on Monday informed MMAWeekly.com that, despite his best efforts, his "MCL is busted." He will remain out of commission until next year.
"My ACL is good, but my MCL is busted," he stated. "So I have to go under surgery again."
Cote said that he will go in for surgery on Wednesday, and that a likely return to the Octagon is a long ways off.
"Not before February or March, for sure."
Cote had previously undergone surgery for an ACL tear after he lost to Anderson Silva at UFC 90. Cote has yet to fight in the UFC since that loss and signing a new four-fight contract extension this summer.
