UFC News and Notes
- Zuffa officially announced UFC 104 and the two top bouts on the card: Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua for the UFC light heavyweight title and Cain Velasquez vs. Ben Rothwell.
- Karo Parisyan (18-5) will return to the Octagon and face off against submission wizard, Dustin Hazlett (12-4), at UFC 106. Hazlett is coming off of a knee injury while Parisyan was suspended for testing positive for several banned painkillers at UFC 94.
- Dan Lauzon was ready to make his return to the UFC but an injury has forced him to withdraw from his fight against Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 103. Lauzon was previously fighting for Affliction but after the promotion collapsed the UFC picked him up. This is Lauzon second run inside the UFC.
- Apparently the fashionable thing for Brazilian fighters is to want to fight heavyweight. First it was Anderson Silva now its Mauricio "Shogun" Rua who is entertaining the thought of fighting at heavyweight. Perhaps Rua is really just trying to avoid Machida, just like Anderson.
- Speaking of Anderson Silva; he recently talked to Fighter's Only and said that the reported feud between Wanderlei and himself is all just a media fabrication.
- Team Quest fighter, Dan Henderson, will be at the UFC Fight Club Q&A for UFC 102 in Portland, Oregon.

“all just a media fabrication”
More like media foolishness and bloggers hyped up sensationalism.
1. Take one of two statements made by a fighter during an interview, re-interpret it, infer what you will from your life experiences, morals and values and then apply what you think Fighter A thinks or said about Fighter B.
2. Need to write a juicier story, you then get a rebuttal from Fighter B, who probably doesn’t think it is a big deal. Please keep in mind, already knowing Fighter B has answered the question possibly 2-3 times, even more interviewers will continue to ask the same exact question about this new found rivalry and heated exchange of words. Note, did you hear what Shogun recently said concerning Anderson Silva’s statement about his chances against Lyoto Machida. To Shogun it was not a big deal.
3. Now you have “a heated war of words” meme passed throughout the MMA blogosphere. It is entered in Wikipedia and questions concerning Fighter A and Fighter B’s relationship will continue to linger until you see a photo of the fighters in an event or after party on CombatLifestyle.com or some video on Youtube. Example: see Chuck Lidell & Tito Ortiz or Rampage and Rashad Evans cheese it up for TUF Season 10 promotional ads. Big Kool Aid smiles.

You have Dana White saying ridiculous things like Shane Carwin hates Brock Lesnar based on Carwin’s reaction to UFC 100.
Media fabrication, foolishness, yeah that basically sums it up.

At least WWE has better actors. :-)

LOL
yeah, I think part of it was a cathartic F-you to A.Silva after two horrible main events.
I mean we KNOW he should be KOing ppl and when he is fighting scrubs and looks like he doesn’t care we were mad. Wanderlei helped channel that anger with his comments
