WKR instant reaction to Fedor signing with Strikeforce
Things that stick out immediately,
- The term "co-promotion" is used throughout the press release.
- The deal is a "multi-fight agreement"
- The words "M-1" and "Fedor" are often connected if not interchangeable.
- Fedor talks about fighting at "the highest level." Some will find this statement disingenuous.
- Showtime now boasts that they have the "best" female and male MMA fighters in the globe.
- Fedor will fight this fall on Showtime
- Possible opponents for first fight: Overeem, Rogers and Werdum.
- No information on what M-1/Strikeforce's relationship will be besides the term "co-promotion".
- Should we expect a response from Zuffa? I believe so.
- It's going to be another one of those days so buckle up.

I meant ONLY opponents in all of Strikeforce. It says something about a guy said to be the best that he does everything possible to not prove it.

Well at least we can stop talking about Fedor. This does prove that fighting the best in the world is not his main concern, which is completely fine. He wants what he believes is better for M-1 and himself. Rogers (raw), Werdum (released from UFC, probably should not have been though), and Overeem (1 decent win in three years) is hardly elite competition.

its funny to me that people think fedor is somehow scared or doesn’t want to fight anyone on the ufc roster.
its all about m-1 and co promotion. m-1 has been saying this for 2 years now.
If Fedor DOES want to fight the best in the world, signing with Strikeforce does not accomplish that. Maybe he wants to fight Gina?

missed the point completly but ok
if a PROMOTION wants to feature a fighter from another PROMOTION you have to agree to a thing called a CO-PROMOTION. its very simple. take a look how tyson vs. lewis was done back in 03 with showtime and hbo.
the ufc didn’t want to do it which is great and not the best thing for them at this point in time but blaming fedor or accusing him of not wanting to take the best fights is just ridiculous.

I can’t help but wonder why the first fight won’t be televised on CBS…
Seems like that would be the best way for Strikeforce and M-1 to get Fedor the exposure he needs to become a PPV draw.
i guess i wouldnt mind watchin overeem/fedor or rodgers/fedor, but i am dissapointed to say the least.
i just hope strikeforce is being smart and not giving him too much, cuz if fedor kills another promotion then im done with him.
i wouldve liked to see strikeforce say no deal, and fink and them wouldve bout ran outta options and they wouldve had to copromote with dream or some other obscure far away company. m1 is seeing dollar signs from ppv revenues and i think thats why they want to promote with a us brand…but hate to say it but if strikeforce starts doing ppvs right now they wont get much either

Fedor vs. Overeem please!
I would much rather see Fedor/Overeem or Fedor/Rogers than Fedor/Werdum. Werdum is not exactly the most exciting fighter in the world to watch (see: UFC 70) and Overeem needs to defend his damn title.
The only thing I would be concerned about is the possibility of Alistair failing a drug test.
That would be a disaster.

Not unless they’ve signed GSP and Tara LaRosa.
Fedor against Overeem is the only fight that Strikeforce can put on that I’d really like to see. Fedor would smash Rogers and Werdum. I’m pissed he’s not in the UFC. Brock/Fedor would have been awesome and Fedor against Carwin, Velasquez, Mir and maybe Dos Santos in the future could have been interesting fights.
