Betting lines go crazy in the Chris Leben fight

"That two liter of soda didn't help out so much"

"That two liter of soda didn't help out so much"

Steve Cofieild gives us the skinny on some quick money movement in the Chris Leben Jake Rosholt fight,

MMA fight lines generally don't move anymore than 30-to-40 cents but the Leben-Rosholt moved as much as a dollar in some places. Leben was as high as minus-200 in some sportsbooks. He dropped to even money by fight time. The story was the same off-shore where bettors pounded Rosholt.

Looks like someone is going to be investigated by the NCAA. Wait wrong sport.

So why did the lines change so much and so quickly? Well it appears that some inside information spread like wildfire. Kevin Iole offers this anecdote,

"A prominent fighter came over to me tonight and told me he'd made a bet on Rosholt. I was a little surprised by that. He knew that Leben hadn't trained at all."

WKR thought that Leben looked tired and slow and we speculated that maybe he was feeling some withdrawal effects from his past steroid use. Instead it appears that he simply didn't train and hit the bottle.

Serves me right for ever picking "The Crippler."

Don’t, I picked Leben, too. Snd honestly, you could’ve told me Leben would coming in after bender of hard liquor and percocets (which I am all too familiar with) and I still would’ve picked him. What I never expected was that Jake Rosholt learned stand-up that didn’t involve taking punches to the face until you get a takedown.

Quite frankly, the fact that Jake Rosholt not sucking anymore had more of an influence on this fight than Leben not being in optimal condition did.
