Strikeforce News and Notes

"Prepare for war...."

"Prepare for war...."

- It appears that Strikeforce wants to build up an Overeem-Fedor title fight so expect both fighters to be on a card against less than stellar competition.

- Some more details are emerging surrounding the partnership with M-1 and Strikeforce as well as the contract with Fedor. The contract is for three fights over a year beginning this fall. Strikeforce and M-1 will split revenue but no word on what percentage. As of this moment all of Fedor's fights are planned for Showtime, but CBS or PPV is not out of the question.

- Gegerad Mousasi signed a three-fight deal with Strikeforce.

- The UFC sent a cease and desist order to Strikeforce regarding the Babalu-Mousasi fight but Coker is confident the fight will take place.

- Jake Shields will fight for the Strikeforce interim middleweight title in October. No word on the actual opponent.

- Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le, should be fighting by the end of the year

- It appears that Strikeforce, Dream and M-1 will all be working together. Seems like a decision out of necessity not luxury.

- Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, talked on the Carmichael Dave Show about Strikeforce's recent moves. Audio interview after the jump.

c & d order

i dont see how the ufc can stop the Babalu-Mousasi fight. its not like they have any rights to either Babalu or Mousasi being babalu is under contract to strikeforce and their lh champ and mousasi is an m-1 fighter. its a real douche move by them.

Wasn't Mousasi under contract with affliction though?

And those contracts were transferrable in some way when the UFC teamed up with Affliction clothing?

Babalu vs. Mousasi

Is one of the fights I’m most looking forward to this summer so I hope it goes off without a hitch.

BTW: I have Mousasi by whatever he wants
