Overeem's manager says what we are all thinking

Alistair Overeem's manager, Bas Boon, went after M-1 Global (translation via Bloodyelbow.com) in a forum post,

"It hasn't escaped my notice that we are dealing with a bunch of crooks who wish to brand their name onto someone who has managed to build up a successful organization on his own with a good network deal."

"Our deal with Strikeforce was made before this bunch of robbers came along, but now we were planning on asking our money in advance. In fact, I see this as the ideal opportunity to say no to the contract that was signed earlier; we don't want to fight on any M-mini Cons & co promotions."

"Is this the same organization that let Tommy Depret fly to America for nothing without having the decency to phone him to let him know it was cancelled?"

"I wonder what happens if Fedor loses a couple of times, or can't fight due to circumstances, to all those enforced `Co-Promotions` that do not benefit the fighters in any way."

While Boon may be saying what many have suspected for some time he may not be the best source of information.

Steve Cofield points out that this may just be Overeem fishing for reasons to not compete in the U.S. due to his cutting edge horse diet. Overeem hasn't defended his Strikeforce title since winning it in 2007.

Where there’s this much smoke, there is certainly a crooked Russian fire.

Anyone still think Dana should have invited these losers into the UFC?

I’d like to buy that man a beer. And a bodyguard. You don’t say that about the russian mafia and get away with it. But yeah, kudos for bringing the pain like that. It’s not like he’s trying to get in good with UFC or anything by saying this is it? It seems Overeem was very well established and happy where he is, could this be a preemptive submarining to jump ship?

Of course Daner should bring him in if it was possible, but I don’t see the paper tiger going pro anytime soon.
