Ticket price comparisons

The Sporting Blog's new MMA/Boxing site, The Rumble, has some interesting numbers regarding ticket prices for boxing two big events this year.

A ringside seat for May/Marquez is going for $4,590. The same seat for Pac/Cotto will cost you $10,943. I'm not that good at math, but that's like, a lot more.

Don't worry I am pretty good at math and that's a difference of $6,535. Wow.

WKR thought it would be smart to compare ringside ticket prices for UFC 103. We found ringside seats available on Ticket Stub for $3,090.

Obviously this comparison doesn't really work. Pacquiao vs. Cotto will be the largest boxing event of the year and to accurately compare it to a UFC event we would need to look at UFC 100 ringside ticket prices. But the Mayweather Marquez comparison is far more interesting as it will be going head-to-head with UFC 103.

While the Mayweather ringside seats might cost 48% more than ringside UFC 103 seats even  that is an unfair comparison because we will need to look at all the data (live gate, PPV buys/revenue and attendance) before drawing a conclusion, whatever that may be.
