Former Affliction fighters shine through at UFC 103
The performances of Vitor Belfort and Pauled Daley stand out in a night of fantastic finishes.
Belfort's knockout victory may propel him to the top of the middleweight division and Daley's first round TKO victory of Martin Kampmann was the upset of the evening. Both fighters came are Affliction alums. (Well, sort of in Paul Daley case. While he never actually fought for Affliction he was scheduled to fight at Affliction: Trilogy until the card was cancelled.)
Belfort resurrected his career with two knockout victories in the now defunct Affliction promotion. Daley also made a name for himself as a welterweight prospect outside the UFC (namely in EliteXC) and was set to fight Jay Hieron at "Trilogy."
The achievements of Vitor Belfort and Paul Daley at UFC 103 should serve as an example to even the most die-hard UFC acolyte, that top MMA talent exists outside the confines of the Zuffa brand.
