Unfortunately
I believe you’re right, but honestly he was on life support anyway after those performances against Gonzaga, Kongo, and Overeem the past couple years..
If he continues to compete I hope he finishes his career in Japan, because it’s obvious at this stage in his career he can no longer compete with the younger top contenders in the UFC.
Could he beat the Mustapha Al-Turk’s of the world in the UFC?
Sure, but why bother. Why not just finish your great career in Japan where you can not only get better match ups, but fight in an environment that is obviously much more comfortable.
Sorry for being so esoteric, but. sadly enough, we all knew this was going to happen but none of us wanted to admit it; to each other, as MMA fans, our to ourselves.
Personally, I’ve been a huge Cro Cop fan but, in a deep dark place, I knew he was losing last night. Dos Santos was young, hungry, and while it took him a while to execute, used a good plan to stop the Croation KO artist. When he finally started landing those knees to the body, I knew it was all over.
Hopefully know, Cro Cop hangs it up and avoids the embarrassment of losing to guys he has no business losing to (see Sylvia, Timothy). Maybe he can work on getting the UFC into Croatia or help with the sanctioning throughout the world. As a former high ranking politician, maybe he can help MMA gain acceptance from governments throughout the globe.
I say this because I don’t want to see one of my favorite fighters get hurt inside the octagon. I’d rather see him use his talents outside the octagon to continue to bring our sport to further legitimacy throughout the global community.
