Frank Trigg likely one and done in his return trip to the UFC [Update]
Dana White told MMA Junkie that Frank Trigg will likely be out of the UFC after his first round knockout loss to Josh Koscheck.
Trigg was making his return to the UFC after a four year hiatus in smaller organizations and was hoping to compete at a top level.
Frank seems resigned to his face in post-fight comments,
"If they say I'm done, I'm done," he said. "If the UFC cuts me, I'm done fighting. I don't have the strength or determination to go fight in the minor leagues anymore. I've done it before.
"I didn't come back here for one fight ... so I could say I retired as a UFC fighter. I came back to make a run at a title fight. I want to fight. But if they're done with me, that's it."
Seems fairly harsh of the UFC to bring back Trigg as a sacrificial lamb to only kick him to the curb. They could use Frank as a punching bag opponent for Anthony Johnson or several other rising welterweight products.
Trigg does have some name recognition though the UFC could be influenced by salary. Also, the specter of Trigg's retirement undercuts a possible signing for Strikeforce. It would be nice to see Jay Hieron or Dream's Marius Zaromskis fight knock out old "Twinkle Toes" though.
