DMX jumping on the MMA bandwagon in Alabama
Hold on to your butts because DMX is about to become an MMA fighter.
The rapper will make his MMA debut at "Alabama Pride" from the fine people who brought congenital amputee, Kyle Bradley's, first MMA fight. DMX will fight Eric Martinez (1-0). The event is scheduled for December 12th in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Rumble breaks down what DMX has been up to in recent years,
It might have been a few years since you've heard about him, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been busy. Over the last couple years he's spent time in jail, used a false named at the Mayo Clinic, recorded a couple albums, pursued becoming a preacher, squashed his beef with Ja Rule, recorded a gospel album you'll never hear and filmed a couple movies you'll never see. He's a real renaissance man. Of course, nowhere did I see where he's been learning mixed martial arts of any kind.
The event will be headlined by Tank Abbott and Butterbean. The bout has many in the MMA community groaning and despite T.S. Eliot inspired headlines the world will in fact not end when these two enter the cage. At least we hope not.
Still this could only happen in Alabama, which conveniently doesn't have an athletic commission because that would be government intrusion on our right to bear guns.
