Alistair Overeem to fight for K-1, isn't he the Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion?

"I am just soo happy I won this belt I will never give it up. Its...its....my.....precioussss"

From Inside Fights,

K-1 announced today that Alistair Overeem, the reigning Strikeforce heavyweight champion, will participate in the 2009 World Grand Prix Final 16.

Overeem will take on Peter Aerts on the September 26 Final 16 card. If he beats Aerts, he'll return to K-1 in December to participate in the Grand Prix Final.

So Overeem couldn't fight in August because of a broken hand but can fight in September? I guess horse meat has some serious healing powers.

Seriously though, Overeem has gone completely AWOL on Strikeforce and Steve Cofield and E. Spencer Kyte have had enough. You know what? So have we.

From this point on we are not talking about Alistair Overeem anymore. Unless its about eating horse or steroid speculation or his night club brawl or him kneeing "Cro Cop" in the groin repeatedly but anything else is off limits until he relinquishes or defends his Strikeforce heavyweight belt.

Star-divide

Hence forth Overeem will be referred to as "he who shall not defend his belt."

As I’ve stated before, this is ridiculous.

Both Fedor and Brett Rogers are ahead of him in most rankings (including ours) so why not strip Overeem and make Fedor/Brett a true title match???

I don’t think he’s coming back. Since winning the Strikeforce title, he’s fought umpteen times in Japan and also negotiated with Dana White for a UFC contract when his remaining umpteen fights in Japan are up.

Bottom line, you’ll see Miley Cyrus fighting for Strikeforce before Alistair Overeem.
