MMA Live Reports Anderson Silva out due to elbow surgery

MMA Live just sent out an interesting tweet. According to them Anderson Silva is out for the rest of the year and will undergo elbow surgery.
Talk about being blindsided by an injury. Seriously, where/when/how/why did this injury happen? (I am assuming its an injury because why else would you let a Jack the Ripper wannabe surgeon cut into you.)
Silva was reportedly taking time off so it seems unlikely he hurt himself while training.
In Silva's last bout he barely worked up a sweat or a heart rate over 100 beats per minute as he knocked out Forrest Griffin with his patented fadeaway-jab. So that probably rules out the Forrest Griffin fight as the source of the injury.
It could be that this was a lingering issue and Silva finally decided to take car of it. Perhaps that explains the eye-gougingly (I know that's not a word) bad.
With Silva out for the rest of the year it seems that UFC 105 will not have a title fight as a main event as the middleweight champion was the card's last hope. This news also means that the main event will most likely fall to Antonio Rogerio Nogueria.
