Fedor is the G.O.A.T: Here is Proof
This weekend I read somewhere (can't remember where) that Fedor is simply ducking top competition and is trying to close out his career on top. I didn't think much about it at first, but the more I did it made me wonder. I completely disagree! Take out the decision to fight outside of the UFC....I know a lot of the new school UFC fans don't agree but Fedor is the G.O.A.T.
I know tons of you are going to disagree so let the comments flow! Here is proof that he is the greatest ever.
Here is a great link about Fedor's post Pride competition
Since being in Pride Fedor has fought Matt Lindland, Choi, Sylvia, and Arlovski.
Now I understand that Lindland is a 185'er, and Choi is a joke, but Sylvia and Arlovski are both great fighters ( or at least were)
Lindland is a little guy compared to Fedor in terms of weight, but he could have caught Fedor.
Choi...again Joke
Timmay...
Fedor’s first fight for Affliction was against former UFC champ Tim Sylvia. While Sylvia was never a fan favorite, he was a true champion. He defended his title and was at the top of the division for awhile. Timmay was very good standing but he has ignored his ground game for some time. This was obvious as he was submitted in less than forty seconds. Those that say that Fedor isn’t fighting top talent seem to forget that Sylvia beat Brandon Vera, Andre Arlovski, Assuerio Silva, Ricco Rodriguez, Mike Whitehead, Jason Lambert, and Ben Rothwell. Timmay went 8-2 in his previous ten fights before his fight with Fedor with losses to only Big Nog and Randy Couture. Sylvia was no chump and a solid person to stand opposite Fedor in the ring. Sylvia was arguably the best fighter that Fedor could have fought at the time outside of the UFC.
AA
The next fight for Fedor was against Andre Arlovski. Andre was similar to Sylvia in the sense that they both had solid standup games and were huge names in the UFC. Andre had not had as many top level fights as Tim but he still had his share. For a long time Andre was considered the second best big guy in the UFC. In this fight many expected a standup war, but before it got to that point Andre displayed his new glass jaw. Andre and Fedor traded blows but seemed to still be feeling each other out when Andre lunged forward leaving his jaw exposed. This led to the end of the fight and the last time that we have seen Fedor in action.

Come on… Fedor. No one is even close. People who know the sport, know this. Here’s why:
1. He’s never lost.
2. He’s never lost to someone he shouldn’t have.
3. Has been in wars and on the brink of defeat only to pull out the win.
Other P4P arguments are GSP or Silva. Numbers 1 and 2 don’t apply to GSP. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 don’t apply to Anderson.

I went to UFC 101 and seen Anderson Silva in person. Before that day I thought Fedor was the best…After, I think Anderson is the baddest man on earth…but Fedor is without a doubt the best heavyweight to ever fight!

I don't disagree
BUT (ironic I know) Forrest Griffin was overrated.
But personally I do believe A. Silva is #1 in P4P.
But Fedor is right behind him

Zak, honestly I don’t think its even a question concerning Fedor status or legacy.
For all the naysayers, I would like to see how they fare after 30 professional MMA fights.
-- my morning rant --
Another note, the fact that many people are now re-thinking Forrest Griffin’s rankings simply tells me that most rankings are way off base. After he defeated Shogun and Rampage, I still didn’t think he deserved the #1 slot. Most heavyweight rankings for the most part are a mess. While many people point out how often Fedor fights, Randy continued to be ranked really high although he has not fought for a year between his fights against Tim Sylvia and Brock Lesnar.
I personally place an asterisk on a number of victories like Couture-Sylvia, Griffin-Shogun and Mir-Nogueira for obvious reasons, unusually stifling bad performances followed by immediate surgery after the fight. Brock Lesnar called out Mir’s victory against Nogueira, stating Noguiera didn’t show up. My point is that Mir is ranked high and he hasn’t really done much in the HW division except get beat by Brandon Vera (current LHW) and set up a rubber match with Brock. Yes, he beat Sylvia when it wasn’t fashionable but I just don’t see Mir ranked over guys like Cro-Cop.
Brock consistently ranked #2? Ok, current record is 4-1, so I guess if another fighter comes into the heavyweight division with a 1-0 record and completely dominates Brock, will that fighter be ranked higher than everybody else on the list except Fedor?
One victory doesn’t necessarily give you the power and clout over your adversary, it just means you were the better man that night. I guess Bret Rogers was right when he said, if he beats Fedor then he will become the God of MMA. It basically follows the logic of most MMA rankings and no one can deny the names on his resume . . . Emelianenko and Arlovski.

Wether or not Arlovski was in his prime when he fought Fedor, he was indeed holding his own for a while, and was pressing the attack and was felled by an extremely well thrown punch right on AA’s button. While that button was in mid air.

Ask yourself this
Who did AA beat to become UFC champion? Who did Sylvia beat to become UFC champion? That’s right, each other.
AA and Sylvia is not “proof” of anything other than these guys were champs in an era when the UFC were weak in the division and every where else. Don’t get me wrong, these two guys are excellent HW with deep flaws as fighters. AA is a great all around fighter with a disastrous chin. Sylvia’s greatest asset is his reach and size, but he’s a fish out of water when he’s on the ground.
Fedor exploits his enemies weakness. He was tooled in the stand up until that fatal KO punch to AA’s glass jaw. Sylvia was blitzed early and then submitted as many predicted. GOAT of 2003-2007, sure, I’ll buy that. However, beating Sylvia and AA doesn’t make him GOAT of all time. Not even close.
