Cage Cast 30: The acting bug edition
This weeks episode of Cage Cast is now live. Unfortunately our hosting issues have gone Hiddenberg on us and we have to find a new host (suggestions welcome) but you can still download this episode here.
***Cage Cast 30: The acting bud edition***
First we talk about this fast spreading disease that is hitting the ranks of MMA fighters, the acting bug. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has bailed on UFC 107, Rashad Evans, TUF 10, Dana White and his hometown to play a bit role in a movie, which kind of sucks. Can we blame a guy for trying to develop a resume for his post fighting career? Yes, yes we can.
Zak thinks that the Rampage's desertion is more telling about the economic status of fighters in the UFC. Plus Dana White wanted UFC fighters to be recognized like Shaq. Well guess what, Shaq has made three shitty movies, so Dana should have been prepared.
Speaking of movies Gina Carano has signed on to be apart of Steven Soderbergh's next film. Spencer points out that you don't say no when an Oscar winning director wants to cast you as the lead of his next movie --really Carano's people deserve a pat on the back for pulling this off-- but at the same time it appears that Carano is getting ready to go Dwayne Johnson aka "The Rock" on us.
Next we talk about Mike Swick's injury. Swick suffered a concussion that caused him to withdraw from his number one contender bout with Martin Kampmann. With the crowded welterweight division this has the potential to send Mike Swick into Yushin Okami territory.
Finally we talk about Anderson Silva and his surprise elbow surgery. While we were all blindsided by Silva's sudden injury (whatever that is) this event is the cherry on the ash-cake that is the UFC's winter schedule. The end of 2009 won't be awful but it is a far cry from what it appeared to be just a few short weeks ago.
