No elbow surgery for Anderson Silva?

Photo

Kevin Iole passed along this news in his mailbag,

I spoke to Ed Soares, Silva's manager, and contrary to published reports, Silva has not had surgery on his elbow and is not in any way incapable of fighting in November if he's offered a fight.

The report that Iole is referencing is one from MMA Live from last week.

Personally I am more inclined to believe Iole at this moment as nothing that Silva has done in recent memory would warrant surgery. Seriously, has Silva even been hit in his past two fights?

Why would there be conflicting reports? Well Iole thinks that Silva wants to fight "The Natural."

I think a Couture-Silva fight is inevitable, Chance....Soares said he hasn't spoken to Silva about fighting Couture yet, and stressed that such a fight has never been discussed with the UFC. But he did say, "Anderson wants to fight the biggest and the best fighters out there and Randy Couture falls into that category. After Anderson saw the way he fought Rodrigo Nogueira, he said he became an even bigger Randy Couture fan." I'm guessing the two will fight eventually.

yikes. i for one do not, under any circumstances want to see this fight. much like the forrest and james irvin fight, its going to show that the fight is a complete mismatch that wont prove anything for silva. i saw a pretty damn close to shot fighter in couture in his match against nog. the last thing a shot fighter needs (especially one that is close to 50) is to fight someone with such devastating strikes as Silva.

Yeah, beating the hell out of an old man isn’t entertaining to me, even if that old man is a former champion with the heart of a lion.

If Nogueira was too much for Couture, obviously Anderson Silva is waaaaay too much for Couture and the UFC should realize that and not send him to slaughter.

Also interesting how Silva’s elbow magically healed in the last few days with a new potential opponent on the horizon…

Shamelessly self-promoting since 1997...

I think A. Silva is acting very similar to Fedor right now

silva is more of a diva. hes actually in the ufc and has numerous options where fedor is strapped down by the crazy russians.

i want to see silva and gsp in 2010. gsp is no way too small for him like dana says. gsp will take down silvas boney ass down over and over just like he does everyone else.

GSP is never doing that fight and there is really no reason for him to do it

kampmann, swick, johnson, karo, condit and larson are all potential opponents.

A.Silva just KO’d a top-5 LHW why in the world would a WW want to go up and fight him?

GSP is being managed to be the Michael Jordan of MMA e.g. the Gatorade deal and they won’t risk that to being potentially TKO’d by Silva

with all due respect to kampmann, swick and the others, they stand little to no chance at all against him. the guy completely dominated both alves and fitch and alves and fitch would defeat all of the other guys. and karo? wtf? no way. didn’t gsp already beat him? plus he didn’t even get by stun gun.

he ko’ed (sorta being forrest booked it for the exits 2 seconds after the stoppage) an overrated and china chined and limited light heavyweight, that doesn’t mean he he’ll do the same vs a highly skilled and dominate and huge welterweight.

if he was to lose, big deal. he lost to a bigger man. gsp already has two embarrassing loses on his record anyway.

id pick gsp over silva. i think they should do it. gsp vs silva in the skydome would be epic. even if the fight would stink, the atmosphere alone would make it great.
