UFC 108 Injury Woes in Pictures
Bloodyelbow made a nice visual guide summarizing the injury issues that the televised card of UFC 108 faced.
WKR would like to point out that the initial reports and rumors surrounding UFC 108 placed Evans vs. Silva as a co-main event bout. Unfortunately all the changeover at the top meant the co-main event became a main event.
The co-main event is a fight between Paul Daley (who has just one UFC fight under his belt) and a replacement for the former WEC welterweight champion. Now Daley faces Dustin Hazelett who has just one fight against a top-ten welterweight. It was against Josh Koscheck and Dustin lost the bout.
The second fight of the televised card lost Tyson Griffin to an injury, then former UFC lightweight champion, Sean Sherk. Now the journeyman Duane Ludwig steps in to fight Jim Miller.
Gabriel Gonzaga, a former number one contender at heavyweight, went down with the Brazilian flu aka a staph infection and the UFC had to tap former Affliction fighter, Gilbert Yvel, to make his UFC debut against Junior dos Santos.
The final fight of the televised card is a lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and Sam Stout. Initially this fight wasn't even on the televised card but was promoted several weeks ago.
