Aaron Simpson Survives First Round from Hell to Defeat Tom Lawlor
Aaron Simpson survived a horrible first round to come back and wi a spit decision over Tom Lawlor.
The first round consisted of Tom Lawlor turning Aaron Simpson's face into a heavy bad. Somehow Simpson survived the round despite staggering around the Octagon dazed while Lawlor repeatedly tagged him with a right hook. The round could have been scored 10-8 though Simpson did continue to fight and landed several punches.
Going into the second round it appeared that Lawlor had let a TKO slip through his fingers.
The second round would end up being the decisive round. Simpson rebounded with a takedown and some decent striking but he absorbed several more right hooks though none were as powerful than the punches that rocked him in round one.
The final round was a clear win for Simpson and going to the scorecards it looked as if Lawlor would win the fight. Yet Simpson would win a split decision that will certainly be picked apart.
Two judges scored the bout 29-28 for Simpson while one judge scored it 29-28 for Lawlor. The fans were not pleased with the split decision and booed Simpson in the post-fight interview. Joe Rogan berated the crowd for their boos and asked for applause, which the crowd provided.
For those that were wondering Spike did not show Lawlor's Hulkamania-style entrance.
